Using the Library

Get a Library Card

Getting a library card is free and easy. Just provide proof that you live in Demarest. Adults can bring a driver’s license or state ID. Children need a guardian who has proof of residence with them to get a card. If you don’t have a license or ID, or it doesn’t have your current Demarest address on it, you can bring any of the following to show your residency:

    • Lease or mortgage statement
    • Utility bill
    • Tax document
    • Bank statement
    • Insurance card or statement

Library Policies

Library policies exist to ensure a safe, welcoming atmosphere for all.
All policies are approved by the Board of Trustees.

This is the behavior that we expect all library visitors to adhere to so that we may serve the community without disruption.

Unattended children must be able to follow these rules.

The Library is not intended to be a daycare, after-school care facility, or a babysitting service. Children must be eleven years-old to visit the library alone, and children ages ten and younger must be accompanied by a caregiver at all times.

Individuals and groups may not use space in the Demarest Free Public Library to provide clients with services for a fee. This means paid tutoring is not allowed at the library.

How library computers and WiFi can and can’t be used.

Individuals and organizations may sign up to use library space. Find the rules and apply here.
