What is meeScan?
meeScan is an app that allows patrons to check out library items with their mobile devices instead of taking them to the circulation desk.
You can also use meeScan as your library card (the “Account” tab) and to check if you have fines.
How does it work?
After installing the app, you’ll need to enter your library card number and PIN/password. (Your library card number is on the back of your card, under the barcode, and should be entered with no spaces.) You’ll only need to do this the first time you use meeScan. There’s no need for a registry code; you’ll be able to sign in when you’re at the library.
You may be asked to allow meeScan to access your location. This is so the app can tell if you’re at a library or not. The information is never stored.
The app will only work if you’re in the library. While browsing, if you find something you’d like to take home:
- Open the meeScan app
- Tap the start button
- Tap the + button
- Scan the item’s barcode with your phone’s camera
- Scan more items you’d like to borrow as you find them
- When you’re ready to go, tap finish
You’ll be emailed a list of due dates. That’s all there is to it!

What about my kids’ cards?
Multiple library cards can be linked to one device, so you’ll always have everyone’s card at the ready. To link an additional card to your device, tap the button in the bottom right corner of the meeScan home screen and log in with the library card number and PIN/password.
What if I don’t have a smartphone / don’t want to download meeScan?
The library has a meeScan self checkout station located upstairs in the main reading room. You can scan your library card and then the barcodes of the items you want to borrow. When you’re done, tap finish, and you’ll be emailed a list of due dates.
