August for Adults

For the foreseeable future, all our programming will be held outdoors, at the Demarest Train Station, or virtually via Zoom. Sign up for the Adult Events email list to be notified of new programs.

Events hosted via Zoom require you to download Zoom software to your computer or the app to your mobile device, links to all of which can be found here. Always register so we can send you instructions to join. If you need help setting up Zoom, email demacirc@bccls.org

Bullet Journaling with Kate – Tuesday, August 24 from 4pm to 5pm – Learn a fun, creative way to organize yourself and get ready for fall with Ms. Kate! Each participant will receive a complimentary starter bullet journal. Additional materials will be available at the end of the program as we chat and get our bullet journals set up.

First Day Friends – Wednesday, September 1 from 9am to 10am – After dropping off the kids at their first day of school, stop by the Demarest Train Station for coffee, doughnuts, and conversation. Younger children welcome for storytime and play. Meet your neighbors and fellow caregivers. Early birds welcome!

Knitting Club – Wednesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 18 at 7:30pm – Meetings are being held via Zoom. Email demarestknitters@outlook.com to receive a link to join.

Health Consultation – Monday, August 16 from 10am to 11pm at the Demarest Train Station – drop in for a free health consultation with a registered publich health nurse. Services include cardiac assessment, podiatry, balance evaluation, memory assessment, and individualized counseling and education. For more information call 201-935-8852.

Adult Book Club – There will be no Book Club meeting in August. September’s book is Dress Codes: How the Laws of Fashion Made History by Richard T Ford. Request a copy via the catalog or pick one up at the upstairs desk.
Each person will read the part that particularly interests them and then we’ll all get together and talk about the parts we read. Of course, if you are inspired to read the whole book, that’s great too!

To receive an invite, email julia.nock@closter.bccls.org. Out-of-towners welcome!
