Music with Miss Nita – Tuesday, August 8, 10:30am at the Gazebo – ages 0 to 5 – Join Miss Nita at the Demarest Gazebo (weather permitting) for some singing, dancing and musical fun! Registration required.
Code a Lego Robot – Group 1: Tuesday, August 2 & Friday, August 5; Group 2: Tuesday, August 9 & Friday, August 12 at 3:00pm in the library Children’s Room – ages 9 to 12 – Learn how to build/code a Lego Robot in this free 2-day course! Space is limited, so please only register if you are able to commit to both days.
Read to a Dog – Thursday, August 4 and Thursday, August 18 starting at 4:00pm in the Programming Room – ages 4 to 11 Children can build confidence by practicing their reading one-on-one with an adorable and loving therapy dog! Children may register for one ten-minute session per date.
Learn to Draw Manga – Monday, August 8 at 5:00pm in the Children’s Programming Room – ages 10 and up – Tweens and teens are invited to the Demarest Library to learn to draw manga with Unlimited Wonder Comics Lab! Registration required.
Writing Club – Wednesday, August 10 at 2:30pm in the Children’s Programming Room – grades 1 to 5 – Exercise your creative writing skills by joining the library’s Writing Club! A friendly teen volunteer will guide you through the writing process, as you use your imagination and create your very own stories and poems. Registration is encouraged.
Magic Show with Myron the Magnificent – Thursday, August 11 at 3:30pm – all ages – Join us at the Demarest Train Station for a Magic Show for the whole family! Myron the Magnificent will leave his audience awestruck in this free performance suitable for children of all ages! Registration required.
Storytime & Craft: Shell Painting – Tuesday, August 16 at 3:30pm at the Train Station – ages 4 and up – Listen to a story, then paint some seashells with Ms. Cara!
Wacky Science: DIY Bubbles – WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24 at 3:30pm at the Gazebo – ages 6 to 12 – Learn the science behind bubbles and make your own! (Note: This event has been RESCHEDULED from Tuesday, August 23.)
Pajama Storytime & Craft – Thursday, August 25 at 6:00pm in the Children’s Programming Room – ages 2 to 6 – Children and their caregivers are invited to the library for an ocean-themed nighttime storytime, followed by a simple craft! Be sure to get cozy and wear your pajamas! Registration required.

Summer Reading ends Friday, August 26, so make sure you log your books!
End of Summer Reading Scavenger Hunt – Monday, August 22 through Saturday, August 27 – all ages – Come to the library for a fun Scavenger Hunt to wrap up our Summer Reading Program! Children can hunt for pictures of ocean animals. If they find them all, they get a cool prize! Children may only complete the scavenger hunt once.
