The library is holding a community read of Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting by Clare Pooley!
What is a community read?
We’re encouraging everyone in Demarest to read (or listen to) Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting by Clare Pooley and join us for an in-person discussion on Thursday, October 13.
What’s the book about?
Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting starts with Iona’s ten-stop commute from Hampton Court to Waterloo Station. She sees the same people every day, but knows them only by her own nicknames (Impossibly-Pretty-Constant-Reader, Terribly-Lonely-Teenager). When Smart-but-Sexist-Manspreader chokes on a grape in the seat across from Iona, it sets into motion a series of events that bring together an eclectic group of commuters who form a community, surprising each other with the help and friendship they offer.
How do I participate?
First: Read! You have several options for borrowing the book:

What’s next?
Join us for our in-person discussion on Thursday, October 13 at 7pm.
I want to read the book but I don’t want to go to the discussion.
That’s okay! Whether you can’t attend the discussion or just aren’t interested, we still encourage you to read along. You can also find resources below if you’re interested in learning more about the author, the book, what to read next, or in having a discussion group of your own.
