A Demarest library card grants you access to eBCCLS, a collection of digital services for BCCLS libraries, and to hoopla, which is just for Demarest residents.

Libby

Libby is our main platform for eBooks and eAudiobooks. Libby eBooks can be read on every type of smart phones, tablet, eReader, and computer.

What do I need to get started?

  • A valid library card.
  • The Libby app by OverDrive. All versions are available to download here.
  • If you will be reading on a Kindle: Your Amazon login information.

How do I get the title I want?

  1. The first time you open the Libby app, log in by searching for and selecting “Bergen County Cooperative Library System” and then entering your library card number. On a computer, follow the same procedure on the Libby homepage.
  2. Once logged in, use the Libby website or the app to find a title. You can search by title, author, or keyword or you can browse by category.
  3. When you find a title you want, you’ll see a link to Borrow or Place Hold. If you place a hold, you’ll receive an email when the title is ready to borrow.
  4. Once the title is checked out, it will appear in the Shelf section of your Libby app. Tap the title to view options.
  5. You can open the eBook or eAudiobook in the Libby app to read on your phone or tablet, or, for certain eBook titles, you can send the book to your Kindle. After pressing the “Send to Kindle” button, you will need to log in to your Amazon account, then press the “Deliver” button to transfer the book to the device of your choice.
  6. Libby eBooks and eAudiobooks can be kept for 14 days. You may have a maximum of five items borrowed and five items on hold at once.

HooplaHoopla is a streaming service for eBooks, movies, TV shows, music, and audiobooks. Thousands of titles are available and new content is added weekly. There are no waiting lists – check out material whenever you want! Hoopla is available through hoopladigital.com or through their app.

What do I need to get started?

  • A valid library card.
  • A computer to access the website or a device to access the Hoopla app. Hoopla works on iPhones, the iPod Touch, iPads, Apple TV, Android devices, and the Kindle Fire HDX. Get the app:
  • If you want to view videos from Hoopla on your computer: You will need the Widevine plug-in. You will be prompted to install this plug-in the first time you play a Hoopla video on your computer. Don’t worry, this is normal and Widevine is safe to install!

How to I get the title I want?

  1. Use the Hoopla website or app to find a title.
  2. When you find a title you’re interested in, click or tap on the cover art for more information. If you want to borrow it, click or tap on the “Borrow” button.
  3. A “Play” or “Read” button will appear as soon as you’ve borrowed the item. The title is available through the description page or under “My Titles”, which you can find on the Hoopla home screen.
  4. The title will automatically be returned when it has expired.
    • Movies and TV episodes are available for 3 days
    • Music albums are available for 7 days
    • eBooks and eAudiobooks are available for 21 days

    You are limited to checking out 10 titles per month.Each episode in a TV series counts as 1 title. Whole music albums are counted as 1 title (for example, 10 songs on 1 album = 1 title).
