What is meeScan?
meeScan is an app that allows patrons to check out library items with their mobile devices instead of taking them to the circulation desk. It’s safe, simple, and socially distant. The pickup feature allows patrons to alert library staff that they’ve arrived to get their requested items. Learn more below.
How does it work?
After installing the app, you’ll need to enter your library card number and PIN/password. (Your library card number is on the back of your card, under the barcode, and should be entered with no spaces.) You’ll only need to do this the first time you use meeScan. There’s no need for a registry code; you’ll be able to sign in when you’re at the library.
You may be asked to allow meeScan to access your location. This is so the app can tell if you’re at a library or not. The information is never stored.
The app will only work if you’re in the library. While browsing, if you find something you’d like to take home:
- Open the meeScan app
- Tap the start button
- Tap the + button
- Scan the item’s barcode with your phone’s camera
- Scan more items you’d like to borrow as you find them
- When you’re ready to go, tap finish
You’ll be emailed a list of due dates. That’s all there is to it!

What about my kids’ cards?
Multiple library cards can be linked to one device, so you’ll always have everyone’s card at the ready. To link an additional card to your device, tap the button in the bottom right corner of the meeScan home screen and log in with the library card number and PIN/password.
How does the pickup feature work?
When you arrive at the library, open the meeScan app. If it’s your first time using the app, you’ll need to enter your library card number and PIN.
Make sure you’re logged into the library card you used to request your items. (See how to change accounts here.)
Tap the Pickup icon in the toolbar.
Fill in your information (you’ll be asked to provide where you’re parked and the make and color of your car) and tap “Get Started” to let us know you’ve arrived.
You’ll see a progress tracker letting you know where staff are in the process of getting your requested items to you. When your items have been delivered, tap “MY ITEMS ARE HERE”.

What if I don’t have a smartphone / don’t want to download meeScan?
You can still call us at 201-768-8714 or knock on the Stelfox side door when you arrive at the library to let us know you’re here, and we’ll bring you your requested items.
