The current estimate is that the new bathroom will be completed in early February; this is of course subject to change.

Partial access to the children’s room and full access to the teen room are currently available. Please do not remove the plastic covering the computers and Ms. Kate’s desk. Keep in mind that downstairs is noisy and the air is dusty and may be harmful to people with asthma or other breathing conditions.

There may be days when it’s necessary to close the entire library due to electrical or plumbing work, but as of now, we do not know if this will happen or when closures would take place. It’s possible that we’ll need to close early or close for the day with little notice. To hear about library closures, sign up to receive Closure Alerts straight to your inbox. You can also always check the BCCLS Closing Alerts page, which lists unscheduled closures for all BCCLS libraries.

Throughout the construction process, our already-limited parking will be further limited by a dumpster and two trucks. Therefore we urge you to make alternate pickup arrangements with your children.

The dumpster is here!

  • Little Wigglers Storytime takes place in the Demarest Railroad Station on Park Street at the same times as usual: Monday @ 2:30pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays @ 10:30am
  • Until we can determine the safety and usability of the children’s room, there will be no after-school programs
  • Do not remove plastic sheets!

To stay up-to-date, we recommend signing up for Miss Kate’s Updates; you will be emailed if the children’s room is opened, closed, or in between and given notice of any children’s programs offered.

We will have a single bathroom downstairs that is larger, accessible, modern, and equipped with a changing table. We’re also having a water fountain installed in the children’s room as part of the renovation.

The old children’s room bathrooms are two small restrooms that are not up to accessibility codes; neither has a changing table.
