Did you know libraries have a bill of rights to guide their service? We want to highlight one of those principles today: “Books and other library resources should be provided for the interest, information, and enlightenment of all people of the community the library serves.”
We take that responsibility seriously. Of course, we cannot undo our country’s institutionalized racism with a book list, but we hope it will move us one small step closer to a better-informed, more enlightened community. Below you’ll find our recommendations for children, teens, and adults to learn, through stories true and fictional, about the complicated, horrible, unyielding impact of racism on our history and on our society today.
